Devin Hill starting taking jazz guitar lessons in late 2006 and asked me to comp through some standards with him while he practiced. As a self-taught rock guitarist I realized that I needed to start practicing myself to play these tunes. We eventually recruited Dave Herr to play drums with us. And Jay Orff joined us for a while on bass too. These recordings were not intended to be our first album, they are actually just documents of rehearsals. But Dave Herr was stricken suddenly with a brain tumor in early 2009 and we never got to make a proper record of this period.
